It's The Weekend

Good Friday morning everybody (it's Friday yahoo) hopefully we have a nicer day than that wind and rain of yesterday! Even though it was fairly mild the wind was very gusty from the west which is not common for around here.
I was just thinking when I wrote it, that mentioning it's Friday usually offers a twinge of excitement combined with the anticipation of a couple of days off work but at this time of the year the thought of staying at work to avoid the crowds may seem like a better deal. : )
Nevertheless we'll all get out there and do what we must so that on Christmas morning our special people will be looked after once again.
I'm not really a humbug sort of fellow, in fact I think Christmas has a really important place in the makeup of our civilization and without it there would be no other time in the year when most of us get together on the same charitable page.
Look and you will see the Salvation Army is out in force, Tom Brown from CTV is spearheading the toy mountain drive again, all of our needy food banks are getting air time on the television, in fact this is the time of the year when just about every charity relies on the generosity and goodwill created by the Christmas spirit to carry them through for many months to come.
This year our IM Christmas Team has embraced a young lady in dire straights. We've shown her that she is not alone at Christmas and even though we will never knowingly meet her, our hearts go to her especially in this season of giving.
It never fails to impress me that when I send out our annual  request for Christmas help how quickly the word spreads and the donations begin to flow. This year I had the first two responses in less then thirty minutes and they still continue, so I humbly say to those who were in a position to help  "Thank You" once again this year!
If it wasn't for Christine stepping up and going the extra mile for our young lady we would not have this opportunity to help her and she may have fallen through the cracks so on behalf of all of us a very big "Thank You" to you Christine, it's much appreciated! : )
As for my own shopping this year I've decided that I will only purchase gifts that are needed by the recipients so that I'm not wasting time and money on something of lessor personal value to them.
Now let me think!
First on my list is the help of a goat purchase for a village in Africa someplace that my sister-in-law sees as a great way to enjoy her gift from me, which is sort of cool, yahoo!
There is no gift like giving! : )
Cheers!
