Christmas Team 2011

The First 2011 Ironmn Canada
Medal That Was Issued
Good Wednesday morning everybody and so far we have dodged the snow bullet, around here anyway! Yahoo!
Are you ready for Christmas yet? : )
Unless you are one of those extremely rare early shoppers just the thought of having to get out there with the masses is enough to think Florida would be a better option. It would not be popular with your family but just imagine what it would be like to escape just one time! : )
There are always the usual family get togethers that we shouldn't ever take for granted but when we are lucky enough to have the same dynamic year after year without change it easy but not real, to expect nothing will ever change at these gatherings.
The same old corny stories (maybe not your version of them) told by the same family members that gather laughter like they were told for the first time,OMG!
The closeness of sitting down together to share a delicious meal gives us a feeling of belonging and a chance to come up with some new story material that will join the repeat cycle for years to come! : )
So I guess if you really think about it Christmas is a time of going the extra mile but it has it's own personal and high value rewards, but that still doesn't mean we can't think of the warm sand when the going gets tough!
Our Iron Motivation Christmas Team has over the last several years adopted a family in need with the exception of last year when a family dynamic changed and the wheels came off the cart for a short time, but now we are back in the saddle and marching on, yahoo!
This year after much discussion we have decided to offer our help to a young (16) lady who has suddenly found herself without any family support, cut off in fact and thrown without warning into our social system as her last means of support.
It's very hard to imagine what it's like when one day you are a promising student living the Canadian dream and the next day the harsh realities of a cold hard sidewalk are staring you in the face.
She is clearly being severely punished, she has been abandon and left to figure it out on her own.
We can and with a little help from many we will embrace this young lady and make this bad situation much better at a time of the year when it seems to matter even more.
OK Christmas Team 2011 it's time, it's time to get to work and help change another life!
Cheers!
