Marc Graduates With Distinction

Son Marc with his proud Grampa!
Good Monday morning everybody, I hope you had a great weekend! It won't be long before the snow will fly with temperatures to match so get out there and enjoy every minute of this beautiful fall we have going!
This past weekend was simply a blur for us here in the Johnston house with so much going on it was hard to keep track of it all.
My sister in law had some very serious surgery during the week and has been very much in our thoughts as she continues to come around. The signs are pointing to a very good recovery so we are relieved just a little but she has a way to go yet. Keep fighting the fight!
Then on the other end of the scale our son Marc had his Waterloo Convocation on Saturday afternoon graduating from their Cooperative Computer Science Program with Distinction, and of course we were bursting with parental pride as he crossed the stage to receive his ceremonial sash.
Marc has been at Waterloo University for 4 years and 8 months and has been a stellar example of what a good student can do with a solid commitment to work, honest compassion and a great attitude.
Even with the huge schooling demands placed on him during those years he was still able to add extra activities with the school's Guard Club and acting in the responsible capacity as a DON in the student residences. Marc helped many of the younger students on their arrival get accustomed to university life and kept life in "res" a happier place for them to live.
It goes without saying that Patty and I have always been very proud of Marc his whole life and on Saturday we got to share a larger version of our "daily feelings" with hundreds of other graduating families!
Thank you Marc!
My Mom and Dad joined us and even though it was a long day for them there was no way they would miss such a momentous occasion for their Grandson who they lovingly helped to raise!
After a nice family dinner and drive home, we dropped them off well after their regular bedtime but the excitement of the long day was still evident in their happy voices as they went into their house.
It was so nice to be able to share this day with them!
Son Mike who is also a Waterloo student in the Cooperative Mechanical Engineering Program was thrilled to see his big brother graduate even though it leaves him without his brother close at hand but it won't be long before Mike makes his own crossing of the same stage, fingers crossed!
We have full confidence that will happen and look forward to another wonderful day in Waterloo especially for him!
Marc with his Nana and Grampa!
It was a day to remember for sure and for me personally as Marc's dad I could not be more proud of him and him having completed his anniversary studies, whether he goes further or not, is a dream come true for me too!
Well done son! : )
